I really want to thank the SculptLife Team who train us Glasshouse Mountains Girls most mornings, and to all the girls that have been coming over the last 12 weeks – you are all wonderful and supportive and make it so much fun to slog it out for an hour.

Over the last few years I had made every excuse why I couldn’t commit to exercise- children, work, study, but I finally realised that if I didn’t start doing something now in my mid 40’s it was only going to get harder.

So, after seeing an advertisement for the Sunshine Coast Womens Only Boot Camp at Glasshouse,  I decided it was time I stopped making excuses and took the step to feeling healthy again.  We had also booked a holiday to Fiji so that gave me added incentive to lose a bit of weight and hopefully feel better  about lounging around the pool without feeling too self conscious. 

Well it worked.  I did 8 weeks of the Sunshine Coast Bootcamp before we left for our holiday.  During this time I lost 9kgs and 43 cms off my measurements.  It wasn’t just about the weight I had lost I also felt so much healthier, had improved my eating habits dramatically.

Earlier in the year I had let myself run down, was feeling unwell all the time, mostly stress related, but adding to that, was not eating properly, doing no exercise and was having physio and steroid treatment for bursitis in my right shoulder.

I was taking the daily allowable dose of painkillers to just get through every day chores. When I first started the Sunshine Coast Bootcamp I had very limited movement and no strength in my right arm.   I was unable to do a lot of the exercises and knew my limitations, but was determined not to let it become another excuse.  The trainers were great at giving alternatives but still pushing that little bit to strengthen my shoulder.

I now have about 80% movement back in my shoulder and I have not had to take a painkiller or anti-inflammatory for about 8 weeks.

My 3 goals when I started were:

    ·     To be able to comfortably wear my size 12 cloths – achieved

    ·     To improve my fitness level and feel healthier – achieved

    ·     To lose 10 kgs – nearly, lost 9kgs

Now having returned after a month off, I can’t wait to see where the next 8-12 weeks takes me.   With a few lapses during my first 8 weeks and still noticing the results , I am looking forward to being a bit more committed and although “model material” I am not, I would never have had such a great holiday and got so sunburnt in Fiji if it wasn’t for you guys ,  I am definitely looking forward to a great summer on the beach with my husband and 3 boys.
